As you read the following, ask God to reveal Himself to you. If your heart is open, trust that He will guide you as you seek Him.
A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
God loves you
The greatest truth you can know is that God loves you. He created you, knows you completely, and desires a personal relationship with you.
1 John 4:10 says:
"This is real love—not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as the sacrifice for
our sins."
A personal relationship with God is more than attending church, being baptized, trying to be a better
person, or simply knowing about God. It is more than religion—it is knowing Him personally through
Jesus Christ.
The Bible reminds us in James 2:19 that simply believing God exists is not enough:
"You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder."
"So how can you begin a personal relationship with God?"
recognize your need for god
God's Word tells us:
"There is none righteous, no, not one... there is none who seeks after God." (Romans 3:10–11)
And:
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)
Every one of us has sinned. We all have regrets, failures, and times we've chosen our own way instead of God's. Yet none of those things lessen God's love for you.
He already knows your story, and He invites you to come to Him honestly. Simply acknowledge what He already knows:
"God, I have sinned, and i need your forgiveness."
Recieve god's gift of salvation
Because God loves you, He made a way for you to be forgiven and to have a relationship with Him.
Jesus said in John 3:16–18:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life..."
Jesus willingly took our sins upon Himself. He died on the cross, was buried, and rose again so that we could be forgiven and have eternal life.
When the Philippian jailer asked, "What must I do to be saved?" the answer was simple:
"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved." (Acts 16:30–31)
When you place your faith in Jesus Christ and trust that through His death and resurrection he has delivered you from your sins, God forgives you and welcomes you into His family.
Trust God's Grace, Not Your Own Efforts
The Bible says:
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not
of works, lest anyone should boast." (Ephesians 2:8–9)
Many people believe they must earn God's acceptance by trying harder or becoming a better person first.
But salvation is not something we achieve—it is a gift we receive.
God isn't asking you to clean up your life before coming to Him. He invites you to come just as you are,
trusting Him to transform your life through His grace.
Respond to Jesus Today
If you understand that you have sinned, believe Jesus died and rose again for you, and desire to place your trust in Him.
God's Word says:
"...if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)
Notice the certainty of God's promise: you will be saved. Jesus also says:
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in..." (Revelation 3:20)
If this is the desire of your heart, you may pray something like this:
"Dear Jesus,
I know that I have sinned and that I need Your forgiveness. Thank You
for loving me so much that You died on the cross for my sins and rose
again to give me new life.
Today I turn to You and place my trust in You alone as my Savior and
Lord. Please forgive my sins, come into my life, and help me follow You
each day.
Thank You for Your grace, Your mercy, and the gift of eternal life. Thank
You for making me a child of God.
Amen."
God's Word promises:
"For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved." (Romans 10:10)
And:
"For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’” (Romans 10:13)
If you sincerely placed your faith in Jesus today, take a moment to thank Him. His promises are faithful, and you can trust what He has said.
